The next in this series of fine, typically Marantz, amplifiers. It offers an adequate 2x 70W (into 8 ohms), and the designers have included high-grade audio components, current feedback HDAMs, and a high-speed instantaneous current supply, all good stuff for sound quality. Also included is their new Tri-Tone Control system – this enables you to adjust not only Bass and Treble, but also the mid frequencies; useful for optimising the sound quality of compressed files such as MP3, by providing much finer adaptation steps. Apparently it is also useful to partly correct your room acoustics. Most people, however, will use the PM7004 in source-direct mode for the cleanest sound.
For turntable owners, the amp includes a decent Phono (MM) input.
